Escada was founded in Munich. The origin of the Escada name itself came from Margaretha and Wolfgang Ley, who bet on the full-blooded Irish racing horse of the same name and won in 1976. The introduction of the Escada brand followed in 1978. In 1994 the Escada sport line is launched. The introduction of Escada eyewear followed in 1998 and the introduction of Escada accessories in 2000. In 2013 Escada launches E-commerce in Europe offering both product lines, Escada and Escada sport. Today, Apart from ready-to-wear, shoes and bags, the product range offers Escada fragrances, eyewear, home textiles, watches and jewelry.
